Alabama Best Practices Center: Key Leaders (KLN) and Powerful Conversations (PCN) Networks8/26/2020
The UA/UWA Regional In-Service Center will host the following two networks from the Alabama Best Practices Center:

The In-Service Center will offer a cohort to support teacher leaders in utilizing strategies from Fisher, Frey, and Hattie's new text, The Distance Learning Playbook. The cohort will meet virtually from 3:00-4:30 pm beginning on August 13. (Remaining sessions will occur on August 27, September 3, September 10, and September 24.) We hope that you can join us! **In order to proceed with an abundance of caution, we have moved the September 8 session to a virtual environment. You will receive a Zoom link in late August. Registration closes on September 1--don't delay! Join us for this incredible learning opportunity with Dr. LeeAnn Jung, CEO of Lead Inclusion and lead author of ASCD text, Your Students, My Students, Our Students: Rethinking Equitable and Inclusive Classrooms. Dr. Jung is also a clinical professor at San Diego State University with her co-authors, Douglas Fisher and Nancy Frey. She provides support in the areas of inclusion, standards-based learning and grading, designing individualized and goals and interdisciplinary supports, and measuring progress. She has authored 6 books, more than 45 journal articles and book chapters, and has been awarded more than 4 million dollars in federal funding. This opportunity will be offered in a two-part learning cohort. After the session on September 8, participants will leave with strategies for application within their school teams. Participants will return in December for a follow-up session with Dr. Jung. School teams (consisting of an administrator and multiple teachers) are encourage to attend! The JSU Regional Inservice Center is proud to offer teachers our financial literacy series in conjunction with the JSU Center for Economic Education. Presenters from the Federal Reserve Bank, Alabama Insurance Commission, and the Retirement Systems of Alabama will be part of the lineup. This summer’s sessions are virtual using the Zoom platform. Registration in PowerSchool is required to receive the Zoom link and receive credit upon completion. These sessions are open to ALL teachers and administrators across Alabama. NOTE: Please make sure the email address in your PowerSchool profile is correct. If corrections need to be made to your profile information, you will need to contact your central office technology department.

More than 45 sessions have been planned that align to our regional data and needs assessment results. We hope to "see you" virtually this summer. This online book study will begin on June 10. Register via PowerSchool section #372046. Enroll by June 3 in order to receive your book via mail.
Have you ever asked yourself, "How can I increase student engagement?" If so, then join us for a weekly discussion of Fisher and Frey's "Engagement by Design." Register in PowerSchool via Section #372713--we will focus particularly on engagement in the digital environment! Books will be provided for the first 20 registered participants!
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, all training scheduled with Regional In-Service Centers around the state will occur in a virtual format. We are working diligently to reschedule and reformat training that was planned for this summer. Please look for our summer learning opportunities to be posted by April 30.
